Fourth of July Celebration

Fourth-of-July.jpg The theme for the 2024 4th of July Celebration is "Shout Hooray for the USA!" submitted by Noah Haro, a 6th grade student at Vista del Valle Elementary School. The winning theme was chosen by the Independence Day Committee from entries that were submitted by K-6th grade students living or attending school in Claremont.

The celebration begins with the Claremont Village Freedom 5000 1K/5K Run/Walk. The event features a 1K Kids Fun Run, a 5K Run, and a 5K Walk/Competitive Race Walk through the scenic tree-lined streets of Claremont. A portion of the proceeds goes to the Claremont High School Cross Country Boosters.

The festivities continue with the festival, parade, and fireworks show. The Kiwanis will be serving a delicious pancake breakfast from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at Memorial Park. At 9:00 a.m. there will be a flag raising ceremony that includes presentations for the Grand Marshal, Honored Citizen, and Honored Community Group. The festival featuring entertainment, food, non-profit organization information booths, and children's activities will begin at 10:00 a.m. and end at 2:00 p.m. The T. Willard Hunter Speakers Corner will run from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

The annual parade begins at 10:00 a.m. at Memorial Park and travel south on Indian Hill, west on Harrison and end at Larkin Park. The 4th of July Parade is the highlight of the day. It has approximately 60 entries, including bands, floats, specialty vehicles, musical and novelty groups, and dignitaries. The young and young at heart can bring their bicycle and helmet and join the Kids on Bikes entry that leads the parade.

The day ends with a concert and fireworks show at Pomona College Strehle Track. The gates open at 6:30 p.m. and the band will play from 6:45 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. The fireworks show will begin at 9:00 p.m. Kiwanis BBQ dinner will also be available for sale. Fireworks tickets are $10 each and are on sale now at City Hall, the Hughes Community Center, and Vons Market.
