K-9 Units
The Claremont Police Department reinstated its K-9 Program in 2012 with the purchase of Dodger, a drug detection dog. The Department currently has two K-9 Units, Drew and Pria.
K-9 Drew
Drew is an AKC Red Blood Hound and was born in Tennessee. Drew has been training since she was eight weeks old with Scent Evidence K9, based out of Florida. Drew is trained in Human Scent Detection and is be used to search for missing persons, suspects and scent articles. Drew’s handler is Officer Matt Morale. K-9 Pria
Meet Pria, the newest member of the Claremont Police Department’s K9 Unit! Pria is a three-year-old yellow English Labrador. She is a Support Services K9 trained to detect and aid those in a mental health crisis and will be used to aid in victim interviews, aid in critical incidents, help with Police Officer and staff mental wellness, aid citizens during any time of crisis, and more. Pria’s handler is Corporal Chariya Howe, who has been with CPD for 9 years.
Pria loves water, her toys, hugs, and especially pets. She is AKC Good Citizen certified and is eager to start her new career at the Claremont Police Department!
