Patrol Bureau

The Patrol Bureau is the Police Department's most visible element, providing public safety services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Patrol officers respond to calls for service and provide general law enforcement activities such as traffic enforcement, crime scene investigation, disaster assessment, and preventive patrol.  In addition to vehicle patrols, officers can be found patrolling on foot and on bicycles.

The Bureau consists of 16 officers, 2 Lieutenants and 4 Sergeants. Patrol officers work 12-hour shifts, working three or four shifts on alternating weeks. The officers are assigned beats which divide the City into four geographical areas. Within their assigned beat, an officer is responsible for all crime reports and calls for service, as well as patrolling for crime prevention purposes.
