Property and Evidence Unit

The Property and Evidence Unit is responsible for receiving, storing, tracking, and disposing of all property and evidence booked at the Police Department. "Property" is considered items held for safekeeping and/or found property. The Property and Evidence Unit is staffed by one full-time civilian employee and supervised by the Detective Bureau Lieutenant.

Confiscated and unclaimed items are auctioned to the public. Items up for auction may be viewed at www.propertyroom.com.

Property Release Protocols

Property is released by appointment only, Monday through Friday, 8:30am - 4:30pm
Appointments may be made by calling 909-399-5419.

  • A valid driver's license or government identification card is required for all property releases.
  • Property will only be released to the owner of the property.
  • Proof of ownership may be required prior to the release of property.
  • Property may be released to a third party only if sufficient documentation, such as a notarized release, is presented.

Note on Firearms: Any person wishing to retrieve their firearm must follow the protocols above and provide the Property and Evidence Unit with a Department of Justice (DOJ) clearance letter. A clearance letter may be requested using by submitting the following application and instructions:
