Citizens Police Academy
The Citizen's Police Academy is a six-week program designed to provide Claremont residents and people that work within the City with firsthand information about how their police department works and to increase understanding between citizens and the police through education. Participates will also take part in practical scenarios that simulate typical service calls.

Claremont Business Watch
Business Watch is sponsored by the Claremont Police Department and the Claremont Chamber of Commerce specifically to:
- Set up a communications network from business to business within your business/complex center.
- Educate you and your employees on crime prevention and provide educational materials on various topics.
- Promote high visibility of Business Watch as a deterrent to crime.
Crime prevention cannot solely be a police responsibility. Business owners' commitment is vital to reducing the crime rate in the City. Inquiries may be made to the Claremont Chamber of Commerce or the Claremont Police Department.
Pink Patch Project
On Thursday, June 15th, the Claremont Police Department, along with over 110 other public safety agencies, kicked-off the 2017 "Pink Patch Project," an innovative campaign designed to increase public awareness about breast cancer and to raise funds for the fight against the disease.
In 2016, the program raised in excess of $320,000 for cancer research organizations nationwide and we hope to increase that amount in 2017.

Station Tours
Local groups and organizations are invited to schedule a tour of the Police Department. Call the Administrative Services Bureau at (909) 399-5409 for more information.
Neighborhood Watch
The Claremont Police Department has long recognized that citizen crime reporting is the primary means of obtaining information on emergencies, suspicious activity and crime. Victimization surveys and research on police operations have highlighted the importance of citizen initiative in reporting crime to the police.
Neighborhood Watch is a crime prevention program driven by the active participation of residents in a community to reduce crime and solve problems. Although the Claremont Police Department does not organize Watch Groups in the communities, the department is available to offer limited support in helping a neighborhood start a program. The department can also assist a neighborhood with obtaining Neighborhood Watch signs after a group has been established.
School Resource Officer
The Police Department and the Claremont Unified School District (CUSD) have had a long tradition of partnering with one another under our Joint Operations Committee. For more than two decades, the Police Department, with the support of the District, has presented the Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE) program to all fifth grade students in the CUSD. In addition to the DARE curriculum, the DARE program provides the opportunity for our young people to strengthen their relationship with Police Officers at an early age, reinforcing positive connection to a role model they can always turn to when they need help.
In 2010, the DARE position and the School Resource Officer (SRO) position were joined together. The City and the CUSD share the costs of the hybrid School Resource Officer / DARE position, which is staffed by Officer Jeff Dunbar. Officer Dunbar spends a majority of his time on the various school campuses in his capacity as both the SRO and DARE officer and provides an important link between the Police Department, the students, and the staff at the various school sites.
In addition to teaching DARE and taking enforcement actions when necessary, the SRO provides counseling for the students and parents, referrals for students seeking help, and he works with school site staff to ensure the campuses remain a safe place for teachers to teach and students to learn.
