Children riding in a motor vehicle must be secured in an appropriate child passenger restraint until they are at least 8 years old or 4-foot-9-inches tall. All children under 16 must ride properly buckled.

Illegal Car Equipment
Claremont Officers may cite drivers of vehicles with illegal modifications. To keep from being cited, make sure you are aware of after-market modifications that may be illegal in California. The most common illegal equipment cited by officers are modifications to enhance a vehicle's sound or appearance.

Impound Yard
The Claremont Police Department may impound a vehicle of an unlicensed, suspended or revoked driver is impounded for a period of 30 days in addition to any court actions that may be taken against the driver. In order to secure the release of the vehicle once the 30 days is up, the registered owner or their agent must pay all fees associated with the impound and show a valid California driver's license.

Vehicles of unlicensed, suspended or revoked drivers are impounded for at least 30 days. Any unclaimed vehicles are subsequently sold at auction to recover costs associated with the impound (per California Government Code sections 3071 & 3072).
