Solid and Toxic Waste

The City provides many programs that assist the community in managing hazardous waste. 

City Yard Recycling Center

In addition to curbside pickup, recycling is accepted at the City Yard (1616 Monte Vista Avenue). Recyclable materials include paper, cardboard, glass, plastic, metal, and aluminum. The recycling center is open 24 hours a day on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

LA County Household Hazardous Waste Collection Events

Los Angeles County offers Household Hazardous Waste Collection Events throughout the year. To find upcoming events, please visit www.lacsd.org/hhw or call 1-888-CLEANLA. You will need to bring proof that you are an LA county resident. 

E-Waste

Electronic waste (e-waste) may be collected as part of the Bulk Item Pickup Program. Residents that do not wish use a Bulk Item Pickup can dispose of e-waste for free at an LA County Household Hazardous Waste Round Up. To find upcoming events, please visit www.lacsd.org/hhw or call 1-888-CLEAN LA. Residents may also utilize a local junk removal or e-waste recycling company at market rates. Household Batteries

The Claremont Library collects household batteries for safe disposal. For more information, please contact the library at (909) 621-4902 or visit the county website.

Prescription Drugs

A drop box for the safe disposal of prescription drugs is located at the Police Department, 570 W. Bonita Avenue. Additionally, the Police Department hosts two Drug Take Back Events each year, collecting hundreds of pounds of medication.

Sharps Disposal

The Sanitation Division offers a free sharps disposal program. The proper way to dispose of sharps is in an approved sharps container. Containers are available to Claremont residents at the City Yard, located at 1616 Monte Vista Avenue, between 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday. Full containers may be returned to the City Yard for disposal, and an empty container will be provided. Containers must be filled at home and sealed before arriving at the City Yard. Used Oil
The Sanitation Division offers free curbside pickup of used oil. To schedule a pickup, residents may call 909-399-5431. Used Oil may also be taken to Connie and Dick's Automotive in Claremont for free disposal.
