City Announces New Police Chief

On Tuesday, March 4, 2025, City Manager Adam Pirrie announced the appointment of Captain Mike Ciszek as the new Police Chief for the City of Claremont. Captain Ciszek will assume the duties of Chief on April 2, 2025, following the retirement of Chief Aaron Fate.
Captain Ciszek began his career with the Claremont Police Department in 1996 when he was hired as a Police Officer. He worked in the Traffic Bureau as a Motor Officer from 1999-2001 and was promoted to Sergeant in 2001, where he oversaw the Patrol and Traffic Bureaus until 2009.
On May 4, 2009, he was promoted to Lieutenant. As a Lieutenant, he worked as a Traffic Bureau Lieutenant, Patrol Watch Commander, a Detective Bureau Lieutenant, and as the Support Services Supervisor. As the Support Services Supervisor, he oversaw the Records Bureau, Dispatch Center, and Jail operations. In recognition of his exemplary work as the Support Services Supervisor and Lieutenant, he was promoted to the rank of Captain on November 24, 2021. As Captain, he managed the daily operations of the Patrol, Traffic, and Detective Bureaus, as well as the Parking Enforcement unit. Additionally, he oversaw the construction of the new Dispatch Center, 9-1-1 System Upgrade, and police station improvement projects.
“Throughout the 29 years that Captain Ciszek has been with the Claremont Police Department, he has proven his strong leadership, and commitment to service in safeguarding the Claremont community,” said City Manager Adam Pirrie.
Captain Ciszek has a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Cal Poly Pomona and earned a Master of Science Degree in Emergency Services Administration from Cal State Long Beach. He is a graduate of the Sherman Block Supervisory Leadership Institute (SLI), and Command College Program. Over his career, he has earned numerous awards, recommendations, and citizen commendations.
