Vacation Security
Claremont Police Department Community Patrol Volunteers provide a free vacation house service for Claremont residents who will be gone NO MORE THAN 28 DAYS from their residence for vacation, business, or other personal reasons.
House checks include extra patrol of the residence and, as staffing permits, volunteers check all doors to assure that they are locked and check all windows for any irregularities. They check the back of a house, if access is available. If something suspicious or out of the ordinary is found, on-duty police officers are called to check the residence further.
House checks are performed MONDAY through FRIDAY.
No house check is made on the DEPARTURE DATE or RETURN DATE.
House checks are NOT performed on:
• Commercial properties.
• Houses occupied by others during any part of the time the resident is gone.
• Vacant houses that are listed “For Sale”.
• Houses undergoing renovations where workers are present throughout the day.
